Tea never gets its props. Its sexier cousin, coffee, seems to garner all the news reports and even has its own programming language: Java. But tea, the second most-consumed beverage in the world, may very well beat out its jittery competitor in the health category. That's why the Museum of Science and Industry and Kaleisia Tea Lounge are teaming up to present Deconstructing the Tea Leaf: A Special Event on the Refreshing Health Benefits of a Worldly Beverage. After Dr. Kathryn Allen of the Moffitt Cancer Center and Pace University's Dr. Milton Schiffenbauer share information on the science behind tea's cancer fighting qualities, and Kaleisia Tea Lounge co-owner Kim Pham perks up your senses with a special tea-tasting, you just might want to switch from Starbucks to Lipton. Thurs., Aug. 24, 6:30 p.m., MOSI, 4801 E. Fowler Ave., Tampa, $15 general/$7.50 students with I.D., 813-977-8266, www.thetealounge.com.
