Weather experts are now predicting that the oil spill may make its first landfall in Florida by reaching Pensacola beaches later this week.

The Florida state Department of Environmental Protection has asked BP and the Coast Guard to use their booms to focus first on protecting the coastal wetlands and inland areas against the oil, which they have agreed to do.
