For the second time in about a month, someone ignored the parking signs along the Courtney Campbell Causeway and lost their automobile to the unforgiving sea.
“This is what happens when you drive in an area off the Courtney Campbell where you shouldn’t be driving,” said the Clearwater Police Department in an Instagram post. “It’s the second such incident in the last few weeks at that location.”
The area is actually a habitat restoration zone, with clearly marked signs telling people to not park there. However, this doesn't always work. Last month, someone parked in the same spot and went for a walk only to return to see their sedan floating away with the tide. “A wrecker was waiting for low tide late afternoon to try to remove the car,” said CPD at the time.
Stop sacrificing cars to the ocean, folks.
