With the state struggling to combat the coronavirus, Gov. Ron DeSantis’ political committee stopped raising money in April. In a newly filed finance report, the committee Friends of Ron DeSantis said it received $317.22 during the month, with $267.22 of that coming in interest on a bank account.
The only cash contribution was $50 from Barry Cooperstein of The Villages, the report said.
The committee spent $11,038.78 during April, with the money going to consulting, accounting and credit-card expenses and income taxes. The report was a major departure from recent months, when millions of dollars poured into the committee.
That included $461,204 in contributions in March, the month when the coronavirus began to cause major problems in Florida.
