Let's face it: American television news sort of blows. For those with cable or a satellite dish, you'll hear some snooty friends discuss how they watch BBC News. But for an informative U.S. broadcast, you still can't beat the PBS NewsHour, which airs nightly in the Tampa Bay area on WEDU at 7:00 p.m.

The show has a number of anchors, so the announcement this morning that it's top gun, Jim Lehrer, will be leaving the broadcast next month isn't a fatal blow, but it will signify the end of a long era.
