Dr. Anthony Fauci lives rent-free in the minds of many people. Many of them gathered outside Sarasota’s Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall last Monday as the 84-year-old former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases discussed his work during the AIDS pandemic and what it was like to work with presidents (including the one who suggested we inject bleach into our veins to kill coronavirus).

While Fauci spoke, a “Freedom Fest” went down outside where protestors—including a Proud Boy flashing the “white power” sign—called for his arrest and peddled debunked claims about the covid vaccine.

Also speaking to the crowd: Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo, who recently suggested Vitamin A as an option to treat someone severely ill with measles, a virus he labeled as one of the most contagious in existence.
