Sunday was International Day of World Indigenous People. The day, which was enacted by the United Nations in 1994, marks a 1982 meeting of the UN Working Group of Indigenous People of the Sub-commission on Promotion and Protection of Human Rights. In St. Petersburg, activists, Indigenous and otherwise gathered at Vinoy Park to recognize the achievements of and contributions that Indigenous people have made around the world. —Ray Roa
