After a lengthy break in the run of seemingly daily reports of teens being arrested for either threatening to shoot up local schools or bringing weapons to campus, we’re back to the new normal. A 17-year-old George Jenkins High student was arrested yesterday for having a loaded handgun at school.
According to a Bay News 9 report, school staff searched the backpack of a student after receiving a tip, and found a loaded 9mm semiautomatic pistol, as well as a spare magazine clip of ammunition.
The student reportedly claimed he had recently found the gun outside school grounds, which is up there with “I’m holding it for a friend,” but was nonetheless charged with a number of crimes, including possession of a firearm on campus and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number.
