Whether you’re an L, a G, a B, a T, or a Q — or just a friend of the family — gay pride month, aka June, is time to par-tay. Kick off this year’s festivities at the Tampa Museum of Art’s fundraising Pride & Passion celebration with the ladies of Giddy-Up, Helicopter! and Velvet Underground cover band Venus In Furs. The latter features Rebekah Pulley on guitar; Karen Collins on bass; Sandy Grecco on drums; and Lounge Laura Taylor (host of Surface Noise on WMNF) playing Theremin and providing vocals. Sample catering by SideBern’s chef Jeannie Pierola and enjoy additional entertainment by emcee Russell Rhodes, anchor for Fox 13, and DJ JayT. But don’t forget the evening’s most urgent imperative—to see and be seen! If you’re not already a TMA member, a ticket to the event includes a new membership with free admission to the museum for one year. Pride & Passion 2007: A Celebration of Identity, Fri., June 8, 8 p.m.-midnight, Tampa Museum of Art, 600 N. Ashley Drive, Tampa, $45 single tickets/$65 couples or households/$20 current museum members; to RSVP, call 813-274-7365 or e-mail TMA-RSVP@tampagov.net.
