Power Wheelchairs Available

Throughout March, Miracle on Wheels makes power wheelchairs available to non-ambulatory senior citizens, usually at no out-of-pocket expense if they qualify, no deposit required. This service may also be available to the permanently disabled of any age. Call 1-800-749-8778, or visit

Volunteer for Blues Fest

Help is needed at the 2001 Tampa Bay Blues Festival in Vinoy Park, downtown St. Petersburg, March 30-April 1. Proceeds from this event go to PARC (Pinellas Association for Retarded Children). Assist with registration, program sales, contest drawings, soda booths, beer trucks, sea wall monitors and parking lot attending. Shifts are available for all three days. Prom Dresses Needed

The Cinderella Project, a nonprofit organization, is once again collecting new or slightly used formal dresses and accessories to donate to disadvantaged teenagers in Pinellas County. The organization also accepts unopened cosmetics and hosiery as well as monetary donations. All donations are tax-deductible. Help for Abused and

Neglected Children

Gulf Coast Community Care's Permanency Support Program is looking for volunteers to help with children between the ages of 3 and 11 living in state foster homes. Volunteers spend a few hours each week building trust and offering support to the children through social interaction. The program needs both male and female volunteers, 30 and older, and training is provided. Call 727-538-7460, ext. 3018 or 3014.

HIV AssistanceThe West Central Florida Ryan White Care Council needs volunteers to help in planning services for people affected by HIV in our community. The Care Council asks that all volunteers work at least six hours per month, and minorities and anyone personally affected by HIV are strongly encouraged to apply. Call 727-217-7070.

Dream Center DonationsThe Tampa Bay Dream Center requests donations of clothing, food, equipment, monetary gifts and other useful items to assist the organization in helping the homeless, poverty stricken and elderly of Ybor City.
