We may have seen and heard the last of the GOP presidential debates this year (though we’re not quite convinced of that, even if there aren’t any scheduled in the immediate future). Mitt Romney’s wife Anne said over the weekend that if it were up to her, there’d be no more debates and if there were, she would do the talking for the Romney camp.
A respite in the debates will probably tamp down talk of a Romney/Ron Paul alliance, a subject that Rick Santorum has been only too happy to discuss when prompted, such as during his appearance on Meet The Press on Sunday, when he asked “What’s going on?” about the alliance. “‘I’m out here running because I want to be president. I’m out here running because I want to make sure that… we return power back to the people in this country, not because I’m… trying to, you know, maneuver for… one or other candidates. “
Monday morning the progressive blog Think Progress reported that a review of the 20 GOP debates show that Paul has never attacked Romney in those debates, while blasting Romney’s (and Paul’s) opponents 39 times.
