Florid Governor Rick Scott this morning was scheduled to sign the teacher reform bill known as SB 736 in Jacksonville. It's believed to be the first piece of legislation approved this session that the Governor will put his John Hancock to.
As you've read here and everywhere else, the bill is strongly opposed by many teachers and teachers unions. And activists have been protesting against it for weeks.
Expect that protesting to continue this afternoon in Tampa, because after Scott finishes with his business in J-Ville, he'll be coming to Tampa, for a 1:30 p.m. event at Pepin Academy of Tampa (3916 E. Hillsborough Avenue).
Already this morning, Facebook groups opposed to the Governor are circulating e-mails, attempting to get a crowd out to the event to show their displeasure regarding SB 736, and presumably other aspects of his agenda as well.
