• RNC Chair Reince Priebus job is to talk trash about Barack Obama

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus is a pretty cocky character these days.

National polls show that although President Obama is at best in the mid to upper 40's, he still fares relatively well in hypothetical match-ups against GOP opponents such as Mitt Romney, Herman Cain and Rick Perry.

But the mood is grim, with Obama even confessing that things in American life aren't necessarily better than when he was elected three years ago. Those comments framed the vitriol that Priebus flung to reporters in a few battleground states (including Florida) in a conference call this morning.

Citing Michael Jackson lyrics, Priebus said Obama was "more obsessed with the sound of his own voice and the man in the mirror than he is in following through on those very important promises," regarding unemployment and the federal deficit.

"He said he was going to put Americans back to work. Guess what? We have record unemployment. He said he was going to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term, and guess what? He introduced the biggest structural deficit in the history of the world, and he said he was going to get the debt under control and guess what? He put our country on a path to accumulate more debt under his presidency under his policies than every president before him combined."
