A host of local and national law enforcement agencies released their plan for road closures around downtown Tampa and downtown St. Petersburg in advance of the Republican National Convention coming to Tampa five weeks from today.
In addition to road closures, there will be some parking garages and parks and closed in both cities.
St. Pete is being adversely affected because of the official welcoming party for credentialed reporters and delegates on Sunday night, August 26, at Tropicana Field.
Tampa closures include part of the Selmon Expressway between Willow Avenue and 50th Street from Monday August 27 at 12:30 a.m. until Friday, August 31 at approximately 5:00 a.m. The Selmon Reversible Elevated Lanes (REL) will remain OPEN during this time to enter downtown Tampa and will operate as normal.
Street parking will be eliminated in much of downtown Tampa beginning Friday night, August 24 at 6 p.m. until Friday, August 28.
