Romney on way to obliterating the GOP field in fundraising?

Yesterday we mocked Public Policy Polling's survey of Florida Republican voters for including Jeb Bush in one of their matchups, but the real story was that Mitt Romney has a solid, 10 point lead over any other GOP contender in the Sunshine State a week before the 4th of July weekend, some eights months or so before those voters will participate in the state's presidential primary.

But the bigger story emerging is what a juggernaut the former Massachusetts Governor is proving to be when it comes to raising money in comparison to his opponents.

Politico reports that when the fundraising totals for the second quarter of this year are announced on July 15, Romney could be flirting with busting the previous record for this time span, the $36.2 million that George W. Bush raised in 1999.
