Eastern Hillsborough County state Senator Ronda Storms has been attracting lots of national media attention with her proposal in the Legislature that would forbid Floridians from using food stamps to purchase "alcohol or tobacco products, as well as certain foods such as candy, sweet rolls, chips and sodas."

The bill also provides a list of gambling and adult entertainment establishments inside the state at which a cash assistance recipient may not access cash benefits through an EBT card from an ATM.

On Tuesday afternoon, Storms appeared on the the Fox News Channel's "Your World" program with Neil Cavuto.

"Most people on food stamps want to be on there temporarily," Storms began. She said it's important to have a safety net for those less fortunate, but the question is: What foods should taxpayer funds be used for?
