The deaths of St. Petersburg Police Officers Thomas Baitinger and Jeffrey Yaslowitz made huge news in the Tampa Bay area (and across the country) on Monday, and will continue to do so throughout the week. As has been reported nationally today, there has been a spate of police officer killings just in the last week. However, St. Pete officials haven't had to deal with this since 1980.
