There's something new in this year's edition of New Grounds, Moving Current Dance Collective's showcase of Florida contemporary dance. The concerts on Friday and Saturday are juried programs, with selected choreographers and performers featured in eight pieces ranging from Afro-Brazilian (Miami's Brazz Dance Theater) to ballet (West Palm Beach's Ballet Florida) to community-based (Indigo Blue, a collaboration between senior citizens from Tampa's Forever Moving, students from Blake High School and Moving Current dancers). With so many applicants for the juried portion, Moving Current decided to add "Show & Tell" to the calendar. Anyone with work to show is invited to do so on a first-come, first-served basis in an informal, low-tech atmosphere Thursday afternoon. "We want to bring all of the dancers along in the area and give them a chance," says co-founder Cindy Hennessy. Let's hope audiences follow suit. Show & Tell, Thurs., May 11, 4 p.m., free, and New Grounds, May 12-13, 8 p.m. Fri., 2 and 8 p.m. Sat., $15 general/$10 students and seniors, USF-Tampa College of Visual and Performing Arts Theater I, 4202 E. Fowler Ave., Tampa, 813-237-0216, www.movingcurrent.com.
