Good morning.

Insert is-it-Friday-yet quip here.

Big, important State Senator Jack Latvala (R-Clearwater) announced he will resign from the legislature, effective January 5. His departure follows multiple allegations of inappropriate touching and other behavior that women have put up with for millennia until now. Latvala has been running for governor since August, but his prospects now look dim. After all, if the allegations are true, one apparently has to brag about groping women without their consent, not deny it, to get elected in a place like Florida.

Another regional household name announced he is also going to be leaving his big, important job and, as is rare for men's departure announcements these days, it is not due to allegations of sexual misconduct.

One Donald J. Trump is poised to sign the notorious and wildly unpopular tax bill by Christmas. The GOP went to great pains to sell it as a great lifting of the middle class's tax burden first and foremost, and the massive-giveaway-to-massive-corporate-donors component was just a  lil' babby side benefit. Perhaps inadvertently, one Donald J. Trump did an oops when he admitted that the most important thing about the bill was that it allows The Corporations to keep a shit ton more money each year. Good thing no one is really paying any attention, and that there's no massive electoral reckoning coming up in 2018 or anything like that.

And finally, Apple finally copped to deliberately slowing devices down so you'll have to buy newer ones…er, for totally legitimate reasons and not to make you shell out money you don't have for an item that is now essential for your ability to function.
