Oh, good. April Fool's Day. The day where nothing is ever annoying or requires that you waste extra precious moments trying not to appear foolish or gullible. What fun. Let's hide in yesterday's headlines, which were, in point of fact, horrible.

In a weird and tragic synchronicity, two Tampa Bay accidents involved cars going into area ponds. The New Tampa woman who likely suffered a seizure while driving was saved by a couple of heroes, but the three teenage girls who drove a stolen Honda into a cemetery pond off Gandy while being pursued by police weren't so lucky

A Hudson man was arrested for a November St. Pete hit-and-run that left a 68-year-old man dead. Evidence points to him knowing he did it at the time, which means he just might be the very, very special sort of shitbag capable of leaving an elderly man dying in the street to run away and hide. What a species.

And finally, the woman who was thought to have escaped a Pinellas correctional facility on Sunday was found dead in an apparent murder-suicide after a police standoff in St. Pete.
