Ugh. Is it Monday already? Let us linger just a bit over the past before diving headfirst into avoiding the future.
FRIDAY, APRIL 15:
A woman seated to the right of home plate was hit by a foul ball during the Rays-White Sox game that ultimately went to the Sox 1-0. She was hospitalized and a Saturday update put her in stable condition, which is great, because brain damage isn’t exactly the greatest souvenir of a day at the ballpark. Get well, baseball fan.
SATURDAY, APRIL 16:
Tampa mayor Bob Buckhorn cut the ribbon on the new version of the Bro Bowl in Perry Harvey Sr. Park, and let a dude ollie over him. He’s the cool dad every lately revitalized urban center deserves.
Don’t mess with Grown-Up Bat Boy: A former Florida House Speaker who pushed for an FSU tuition hike opposed by Rick Scott was pushed off the college’s board by the governor and replaced. We like to think Scott rubbed his hands together and said “excellent” just like Mr. Burns when the job was done.
SUNDAY, APRIL 17:
And finally, a woman was arrested for stabbing her drug dealer in Largo’s Walsingham Park. Except it seems that by “drug dealer,” they mean “guy she takes with her to buy drugs in her stead,” which is basically just code for “human shield” anyway.
