The sun came up again today. So that's something.

FRIDAY, JUNE 10:

Gawker Media filed for bankruptcy in the wake of that $140 million judgement against the company in its Hulk Hogan lawsuit. Expect years to go by without any discernible change on your end.

Singer and former reality show contestant Christina Grimmie was shot and killed after a show in Orlando by a man who apparently traveled from St. Pete to the venue specifically to assault her. Her brother was able to tackle the assailant, who was armed with two handguns and shot himself in the struggle. Any other weekend, a person in favor of gun control might be tempted to wonder how much worse it could've been if this man had been able to get his hands on a high-capacity semiautomatic rifle. Regardless, what he was able to get his hands on was tragically sufficient. Is it enough yet?

SATURDAY, JUNE 11:

Monosyllabic yam Donald Trump campaigned in Tampa. He said his usual things, a few other people said some patently untrue things, and this being America in the first quarter of the 21st century, the only surprise was that nobody got hurt.

SUNDAY, JUNE 12:

More than 50 people lost their lives, and another 53 were injured, when Orlando's Pulse nightclub became the scene of the worst mass shooting in American history. It may have been conceived out of homophobia or hate or religious intolerance, but it happened — this easily, to this degree — because a man twice investigated by the FBI was able to legally purchase a high-capacity semiautomatic rifle without alarm bells going off somewhere.

Is it enough yet? Do you fucking get it now? Do you?
