SATURDAY, JULY 2:

Director Micael Cimino passed away at the age of 77. If you're under 40 and know who he was, you're probably insufferable when the party conversation inevitably segues into movies.

SUNDAY, JULY 3:

The Detroit Tigers finished a four-game sweep of the Rays with a 5-1 victory. The Rays have now tied the longest losing streak in team history. So, you know, it could be a record-setting year! Just not the kind you ever want.

And finally, congratulations to Gibbs High graduate Trayvon Bromell, who qualified on Sunday to run in the Olympics in Rio. That's awesome. We have some very specific packing suggestions.
