Seriously, don't panic.
Pinellas County has its first case of locally transmitted Zika. This does not mean mosquitoes in the area are carrying and spreading the infection; this does not mean it's time to panic. All this means for sure right now is that you should take all proper precautions, and that there's definitely one more person in the county you shouldn't have sex with right now. Let's be careful and vigilant, not stupid.
After what seems like about 45 years' worth of anticipation, the new version of beloved Tampa burger joint Goody Goody opened in Hyde Park. Perhaps not the timeliest day to resurrect something called a "POX burger," but that didn't stop people from lining up at 4 a.m. Meanwhile, somewhere a salad-by-the-pound place shuddered and breathed its last.
And finally, precision scale maker Mettler Toledo will build a $30 million plant in Pasco and bring 500 jobs to the county. What most of the headlines for this story don't tell you is that A) most of those jobs already existed locally, at a Hillsborough facility the company has outgrown, and B) the rest of those jobs come from a plant that's being closed in Ithaca. But hey, why let mitigating facts get in the way of a good job-creation story?
