St. Pete and Tampa's respective city councils both approved funding for the downtown-to-downtown ferry's trial period, leaving the Pinellas County Commission as the only relevant organization to not yet sign on; that body will address the proposal on Tuesday. I don't want to alarm anybody, but it seems we might be on the verge of a non-car-related transportation thingie actually happening here, folks.
The St. Pete City Council also approved a $20 million spend for the "approach" to the new St. Pete Pier. All those hypothetical people who are going to populate those very real apartments are going to need shit to do, yo.
WQYK DJ Dave McKay, co-host of the Dave and Veronica Show and a familiar on-air personality to Bay area listeners for more than two decades, was found dead in his home when he didn't come to work Thursday morning. No foul play is suspected; more details are expected in the coming weeks. Our condolences to his family, friends and many fans.
And finally, Planet Retro, the killer little Grand Central District record store and show-hole owned by local punk-scene vet Rob Sexton, was burglarized and vandalized in the dead of night by scumbags unknown. Remember: We don't advocate street justice… usually.
