A Riverview mother turned her 18-year-old son in to Clearwater cops after seeing an image of him taken from security-camera footage of a burglary. That's some tough love, right there, and she's our new hero.
The Hillsborough County school system will use state money to hire and train 176 "armed first responders" to bring itself into compliance with a recently passed law requiring that every school has one. We're actually calling them "first responders" now? They're gonna spend all that money just weeding out the dudes that all the police departments in the state already weeded out.
Hillsborough and Pinellas counties posted record-breaking bed tax collections for March, a peak tourism month for the area. Hillsborough's tax collections were up 12.4 percent over last year, while Pinellas increased its own by 14.2 percent. Thanks, people from away who don't know how to drive and often treat our communities like house-party ashtrays!
