Linda Norris, a former Oldsmar city councilperson (2010-16) has an ally in her race for Seat 1 on that same council — the Suncoast Sierra Club.

Yesterday, Dan Huber, the political chair for the local arm of the national grassroots organization for environmental advocacy, issued a press release about Suncoast Sierra Club’s endorsement of Norris:

Norris, he wrote, “has proven herself to be a strong advocate for the environment and the Oldsmar community.”

Her track record includes working to get single-stream recycling and electric vehicle charging stations in Oldsmar. Huber says she also worked on Oldsmar’s LEED-certified water treatment plant. LEED, by the way, stands for “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.”

Huber also cites Norris’ support of renewable energy and regulating single-use plastics, as well as her support of home rule and “smart growth,” as reasons for the Suncoast Sierra Club’s support.

In the March 12 election, voters will decide between Norris, Andrew Knapp and Matt Clarke.
