With just 5 days to go before voters will go to the polls (actually, that's a tired cliche, as tens of thousands have already participated in the electoral process via early voting over the past two weeks), there's only limited time for interested citizens to learn about the candidates. The Tampa Bay TIger Bay Club will hold a forum for the all of the candidates – Democratic and Republican (including Kathy Castor) for the Congressional District 11 seat tomorrow at noon. And tonight there will be a NAACP Candidate Forum in Temple Terrace from 6 to 8:30 p.m. with some of the candidates for Hillsborough County Commission, School Board and state House candidates, with CL being one of the panelists asking questions.
Back to the news of the moment, Barack Obama was in Miami yesterday, stumping for Alex Sink and Kendrick Meek, less than a week before Meek tries to survive his Democratic Senate primary with Jeff Greene. The news here is that Sink apparently didn't want to be photographed with the president.
We're still over two months away before Hillsborough County voters will decide on the penny sales tax referendum on transit, but there are still lots of concerns being expressed, and not just by critics.
And don't you hate it when folks complain about something, and then after that complaint is addressed, they complain about something else? I do, which is why I feel a bit sheepish about knocking Rick Scott for being deliberate and extremely noncritical of Bill McCollum yesterday at Tiger Bay. Perhaps I miss the old Rick Scott?
