So who will the New England Patriots play against in Super Bowl XLV in Dallas?

December football can be pretty exciting, and yesterday the NFL provided some thrills and chills, as well as distinguishing who’s for real and who isn’t in the 2010 season – so where does that leave the Tampa Bay Bucs?   But first, let’s take another look at the surreal collapse of the Metrodome in Minneapolis yesterday morning:

Now everybody is pronouncing the New England Patriots the class of the regular season, and through 13 games, they absolutely are.  And let me predict right now that if the Pats win the whole thing two months from now, you’ll start hearing serious consideration for Tom Brady being The Greatest Quarterback of All Time.

Brady partisans will surely bring up that a 4th title will match Joe Montana and the San Francisco 49ers reign of dominance in the 1980’s, and the fact that statistically, Brady’s number are better, at least through playing 11 seasons.  Of course, the NFL is significantly different from the Bill Walsh era, the one that modernized the passing game in the sport three decades ago;  everybody throws more often now, so every decent quarterback’s passing stats are significantly enhanced.
