Billed as a fusion of music, art, food and spirits — we like what we’re hearing already — S’Real Fridays at the Dalí Museum offer a chance each week during the summer to soak up the zany surrealist’s art in a happy hour setting. After 5 p.m. on Friday, head over to the museum for half-priced admission to a trio of new exhibits and music provided by Gypsy Wind, an ensemble that combines jazz and bluegrass for a sound they call “jazz grass.” Watch wonderfully bizarre silent films and hit the cash bar. On the art side, don’t miss Dalí In Focus, an in-depth exploration of Dalí’s symbolic language in seven paintings from the permanent collection, complete with illustrated panels. (Hint: A cigar is never just a cigar.) The Fine Art of Collecting Dalí, through archival papers, travel logs, and photographs, tells the story of how the Dalí Museum was born. And Dalí’s ‘Biblia Sacra’ reveals a set of vibrant illustrations of the Latin Vulgate Bible completed by Dalí between 1963-64 and never before exhibited at the museum. Oh, and did I mention there’s a nacho cheese fountain?
