Business-oriented business site Business.org has called the Tampa Bay area the best “city” for women to start a business in 2018. Business! They looked at several factors in determining the top places in the U.S., including the percentage of women-owned businesses already extant, the number of new businesses per 100,000 residents, the pay difference between men and women, and the unemployment rate for women.

Orlando and the greater Miami area both also made the list’s top 10, with the former coming in fourth and the latter landing at number 10, despite the article mentioning that, generally speaking, the worst places for women to try to start businesses are in eastern states; we’re assuming plenty of other Florida markets fall into the “worst” category.

So who else made the top 10? You would expect to see places like Seattle, Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay areas on the list, and they’re there, along with California’s Inland Empire (Riverside/San Bernardino), Minneapolis-St. Paul, Pittsburgh and St. Louis.
