Although consideration for Tampa's Clean Zone ordinance for protesters at the Republican National Convention has been delayed until May 3, the Tampa City Council on Thursday did approve two more purchases out of the $50 million pot of federal funds allocated to pay for security for the RNC.
The Council authorized spending up to $290,000 on temporary fencing to go up around city and county buildings during the convention — though where those fences will be has yet to be determined.
Assistant Police Chief John Bennett said that decision will come closer to the convention's opening, which is more than four months from now.
