Tampa Electric Company just announced some good news. In response to coronavirus, no customer’s services will be disconnected for late payment through at least the end of March.
According to a news release, Tampa Electric will also continue to run its power plants (solar facilities included), and restore outages. Peoples Gas—an extension of TECO— will continue its normal service, and respond to gas leaks at any time.
Social distancing is encouraging some changes though. While customer service for both Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas will be available online and over the phone, nonessential appointments (like energy audits in homes and businesses) will be rescheduled, and employees will not be participating in large community events.
Also, the manatee viewing center closed for the season on March 13.
