On Monday the Tampa Housing Authority announced that they have been awarded 75 additional vouchers from the Department of Housing and Urban Development for homeless veterans or those who have trouble paying their rent. Officials say that amounts to more than $500,000.
The announcement came last week when HUD revealed that they would be distributing more than $46 million to public housing agencies in every state in the nation.
And it’s another boost to help out local veterans, as Tampa is already one of only five cities in the nation that is receiving federal funds to try to understand and prevent homelessness amongst veterans.
