Deep frying turkeys has become the rage in recent holidays seasons; mix that in with a stunt that local radio stations like to do, and "voila", you've got yourself there a life fire, there.
Apparently, a radio station in Tampa attempted to deep fry a frozen turkey in a van resulted in the vehicle catching fire.
Although I don't want to make light the situation, since a couple of people involved were injured, but I thought it was humorous when I first read about this on BayNews9's website.
But that was before we learned that the perpetrator was none other than "M.J. in the Morning", a/k/a Todd Schnitt, of "The Schnitt show", which regularly fouls the airwaves every week day afternoon on 970 WFLA.
The Tampa Tribune is reporting that Tampa Fire Rescue spokesman Bill Wade was pissed:
They wanted a fire," Wade said. "They had no permits, no proper safety crews. When the fire got going, they called the fire department.
Wade would not name the injured veteran firefighter, who was taken to the hospital.
Two fire crews and a rescue car responded, Wade said.
The Tampa fire marshal is investigating to see whether there will be fines or charges levied, Wade said.
"I am very upset that this radio station chose to do this stunt in an unsafe manner, causing injury to a firefighter," Wade said.
When reached by phone, WFLZ disc jockey Todd Schnitt, known on the air as "MJ," declined comment, saying he would return a call later.
I wonder if Schnitt, who generally gets his talking points daily from the Drudge Report, will blame Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid for this event, as most of the country's problems are because of them, in his world.
