A Tampa Bay Publix location is hoping customers don’t end up eating plastic.
The Lakeland-based grocer giant issued a recall this week for 11 different ground beef products sold on Nov. 26, at Publix store 685, which is located at 5450 E Busch Blvd. in Temple Terrace.
According to the company, the ground beef should be thrown away or returned to the store for a refund, “due to the potential of plastic material in the product.”
“As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from all store shelves,” said Maria Brous, Publix director of communications in a statement.
Publix did not elaborate on how the beef was exposed to plastic, but says no other stores were affected by the recall.
Customers with further questions should contact Publix Customer Care at (800) 242-1227.
