A 59-year-old man from Waco, Texas was arrested Tuesday outside downtown Clearwater's Church of Scientology stronghold on Harrison Ave.
According to WFLA, the man was using an "amplified noise device" — megaphone? Mr. Microphone? Portable PA system? — to protest the church. Somebody called the police, who responded and asked the man repeatedly to stop. The man refused, reportedly saying he "didn't talk to cops," which is a very Texas thing to say, and also failed to provide ID. He was eventually arrested on charges of violating the city's noise ordinance and resisting arrest without violence.
The man has since been released from the Pinellas County jail.
