The Cross-Bay Ferry has been busy this season. The service running from Tampa to the ‘Burg and back wrapped up its November-to-April hauls making a personal record of carrying over 52,500 passengers.

Surpassing the inaugural ride in 2016 by over 12,000 riders.

Who is to thank? The enticing restaurants across the bay and loyal fans who want to make a scenic commute to support the Tampa Bay Lightning according to a statement made to Tampa Bay Business Journal by HMS President Matt Miller.

Although the ferry service isn't a permanent fixture in Tampa Bay, a business plan has been submitted by HMS and the South Swell Development Group to keep the service, with a change of route. If approved, the ferry will run from MacDill Air Force Base to Williams Park in South Hillsborough County. Don't stress — the previous terminals will be weaved into the new route.

Keep traffic down, reduce your carbon footprint and hope for the ferry's return.
