Do you know about CeCe McDonald? Probably not. She is a trans woman who stood her ground, but unlike George Zimmerman, she was arrested within six hours, not six weeks — and she is still in jail.
McDonald has been in jail since June 5, 2011, when she was charged with second degree murder after one of several individuals who attacked her was stabbed during the melee. She was also severely injured, yet she was the only person charged in the incident. Her trial began today.
