The story of everyone's favorite Messiah takes a rock 'n' roll turn when the touring production of Jesus Christ Superstar stops in town for a six-show run at Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. The rock opera masterpiece by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice focuses on the last seven days in the life of Jesus of Nazareth and makes a musical drama of the events leading up to his crucifixion, beginning with his followers arriving in Jerusalem and continuing with Judas' betrayal and the trial that leads to Jesus' fate on the cross. The tour features two notables in the starring roles. Ted Neeley — who you may recognize from his Golden Globe-nominated performance as Jesus in the 1973 film adaptation of JCS — reprises his Messianic role. Corey Glover, who plays Judas, is best know as the lead singer of the Grammy-winning rock band, Living Colour. For more info about the show, visit thejcstour.com.
