To give Sabrina (or another pup) a place to sleep for a little while, call Suncoast Animal League at 727-786-1330 or email them.In March, Suncoast Animal League undertook a huge rescue endeavor: They traveled to Redland, Florida to rescue dogs (and two kitties!) abandoned by the roadside and left to die . In some cases, Suncoast Animal League couldn’t save the dogs — dogs people had poisoned or stuffed, still alive, into plastic bags. But they did save many of the dogs, and they intend to return to save more. So there’s hope, and that’s where you come in to the picture.

We’re not asking you to adopt a dog. But Rick Chaubody, animal rescue guru, believes dogs do better in foster homes than it kennels (duh!) and, to that end, SAL would like to see these dogs fostered until they get their forever homes.

We’re going to help Suncoast by showing you one pup a week until they all have temporary homes. And we’re going to let Rick tell you about Sabrina:

To give Sabrina (or another pup) a place to sleep for a little while, call Suncoast Animal League at 727-786-1330 or email them. “Sabrina is a five-year-old cur dog recently rescued from the Redland, Florida area. It is obvious that Sabrina has spent a “lifetime” of giving birth to numerous litters of puppies and living a difficult, nomadic kind of life. She also has tested positive for heart worms, a sign of her past struggles.

“That is all in the past as she has recently been spayed, getting prepared for her heart worm treatment and ready to move on with her new life.

“Sabrina is a love. At 55 pounds, she still believes laps come in one size….hers. She adores people and seems to be attracted to children. It appears that other dogs are not an issue and the idea of ‘just chillin” is one of her top priorities.

“Spend a little time with Sabrina; she’ll make you a believer.”
