Have you ever found a 10-dollar bill in the pocket of an old pair of jeans? I can't speak for everyone, but for me, the unexpected windfall makes it seem twice as precious. That's why you'll find me taking advantage of another opportunity to be equally fortunate, without trying on all the old clothes in my wardrobe: Antique Evaluation Saturday. The Henry B. Plant Museum hosts its last event of the season, at which area folks bring their potentially valuable antiques for appraisal ($5 per item, four items maximum per family). If your heirloom is too large to lug around, feel free to bring a photograph instead. Tickets are available between 10 a.m. and noon, with evaluations beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sat., May 27, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, free admission, 813-258-7302.
