Ed Turanchik, whose ConnectUs group led a local effort to help Florida win federal funding for high-speed rail, is now working for a transportation consulting firm hired by the state to work on the project.

The former Hillsborough County Commissioner tells CL that he began working for Wilbur Smith Associates, a transportation and infrastructure consulting firm that have offices in 8 different countries, a week ago.  The company previously working as a general consultant for the high speed rail project, and Turanchik says he’ll help the company with public outreach, marketing and station development issues.

Last month, the Florida Department of Transportation, through its newly created Florida Rail Enterprise, announced that Wilbur Smith Associates and HNTB Corporation, in a joint partnership, would act as program manager for passenger rail in the state of Florida.
