Fashion lovers showed up at The Vault in downtown Tampa Friday night to see the TWIN fashion show featuring the first collection by 17-year-old twin designers, Allie and Amber Malott. The 18-look collection was inspired by the Hans Christian Andersen story, Thumbelina.

Sweet, breezy pieces paraded down the runway with luxury textiles featuring original watercolor paintings of flowers, spiderwebs, swallows and beetles (bugs are a big trend for the upcoming spring season). Pants appeared impeccably made and two of my favorite looks featured neon zippers (one pink and one orange) down the backs of white organza dresses. The pink zippered dress was adorned with a "Caught in a Web" white organza and Swarovski rhinestone collar, and there was a precious pink crepe satin 3/4 sleeve dress with poppy pockets.
The biggest surprises, though, were the price points (over $1,000 for a little day dress, for example), which many of us agreed were way out there, especially for a first collection by an unknown brand. But those with deep pockets who appreciate finer attention to detail and have a burning desire to support local designers might see their way to scooping up something from this fairytale.
