First of all, it's pretty rare there are surfable waves on St. Pete Beach.

Secondly, while dolphins are a common sight in our calm peninsular waters, they rarely come within feet of humans.

That's why YouTuber Austin Piazza caught something particularly cool: a dolphin that appears to be jumping a surfer on the beach's normally flat surf (the video title indicates this occurred on St. Pete Beach, though we haven't seen waves like this in a while).

While it's unclear whether the dolphin is technically jumping over the surfer, and not a foot or two behind, the 14-second clip is still pretty effing cool. (Thanks to redditor WhatWasThatSmell for posting on the St. Pete subreddit.)
