Don’t be alarmed if you see a bag of hot dogs and diapers flying through the air, because a handful of Tampa Bay Walmarts are now offering a new drone delivery service.

In partnership with DroneUp, a drone service company, customers who live within one mile of five participating local Walmart locations can now have orders delivered by drone.

Tampa Bay Walmart stores eligible for drone delivery include:

  • 8745 SR-54 in New Port Richey
  • 2140 Bloomingdale Ave. in Valrico
  • 7450 Cypress Gardens Blvd. in Winter Haven
  • 19910 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. in Tampa
  • 1208 E. Brandon Blvd. in Brandon
“Between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., customers will be able to order from tens of thousands of eligible items, such as Tylenol, diapers and hot dog buns, for delivery by air in as little as 30 minutes,” says a press release.  “For a delivery fee of $3.99, customers can order items totaling up to 10 pounds, so simply put, if it fits safely it flies.”

Walmart announced the new Tampa drone service last May, stating that over 100,000 items at the store qualify for the program, and that it expects to execute over 1 million deliveries within the first year.

That’s a lot of hot dogs and diapers.
