If you saw Newt Gingrich on CBS's Face the Nation last Sunday, you observed that his biggest confrontation with host Bob Schieffer had nothing to do with any critical remarks about Paul Ryan's plan for Medicare- no, it was about the report that the former House Speaker at one point a few years ago owed a startling half a million dollars to Tiffany's.

As an exasperated Schieffer exclaimed at one point, "I mean, who buys a half-million dollars worth of jewelry on credit?"

Newt insisted that it was no biggie, and if he had an issue he should take it up with Tiffany's.

Well, the Washington Post did, and Gingrich again doesn't come out smelling too good.
