Florida Craftsmen Gallery: "What's going on?"
Carole Hetzel of West Palm Beach: "Oh, not much, just making baskets with woven reeds and steel cables."
FCG: "Oh, that's cool; you should bring some over one day."
Florida Craftsmen is checking in (with less hypothetical dialogue) on six member artists in its latest exhibit, Heat of the Moment. The gallery presents the current perspectives of featured Florida artists — Chuck Boux, Carole Hetzel, Kristin Holeman, Duncan McClellan, Sang Roberson and Matthew Steckley — while exploring contrasts within the group, from Holeman's whimsical cloisonné jewelry to Steckley's simple furniture. An opening reception takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Fri., July 7. The works are on display through Sept. 1, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Mon.-Sat., 501 Central Ave., St. Petersburg, 727-821-7391, www.floridacraftsmen.net.
