The Holmes Beach Police Department is currently looking for the owner of the missing prosthetic. “Have you lost an ear? This prosthetic ear was found at the Manatee Public Beach. Please contact us if you know the owner,” said the department in a Facebook post on Tuesday, June 18.
The comments below the original post are relatively split, with ear puns like “How earresponsible!” and Vincent Van Gogh jokes, while the other half are serious residents shaming the jokesters, concerned about the person who lost an important part of them.
Besides the quips and reaction GIFs, many commenters on Facebook contributed useful facts to try to find the ear’s owner, like how many prosthetics have an ID number from the manufacturer, which can then be traced to the person who purchased it. Another Facebook commenter looked up how much a prosthetic ear can cost –– anywhere from about $4,000 to $8,000.
Any leads on the owner of this lost prosthetic can be given to the Holmes Beach Police Department at (941) 708-5807. Like one Facebook comment said, “Just look out for the guy with crooked sunglasses.”
