WMNF Station Manager Jim Bennett has announced that Kate Bradshaw has been hired to be the station's new full time news reporter, effective beginning March 1.
Bradshaw is a native of Illinois, growing up in the suburbs of Chicago. She came to the area to study at the University of Tampa, and then got her masters degree in journalism at USF-St. Pete.
After that she began volunteering as a reporter with WMNF, as well as writing and reporting for the Gulfport based Gabber newspaper. In 2007, she moved to Hawaii, and worked for the Molokai Times and the alternative Maui Time Weekly. She then returned to the Tampa Bay area last summer, where she resumed working at the Gabber and the local online publication 83 Degrees, as well as reporting again on a volunteer basis for the Tampa community radio station.
